HARP denotes High Altitude Research Platform which is used as means for providing research opportunities to STEM students entering Morehouse College. Students under the direction of Morehouse faculty create research experiments that are carried into Near Space (low stratosphere) conditions - low temperatures, extremely low pressure and higher cosmic radiation. These conditions are difficult to duplicate in academic teaching labs, but easy and inexpensive to achieve using a high altitude balloon. The balloons flights are carried under the FAA regulations.
