Morehouse College Makerspace

Morehouse

The maker culture at Morehouse is one that seeks to engage our students, faculty, and community in STEM-related, do-it-yourself activities that foster creativity, ingenuity, and leadership development. Currently, the Makerspace focuses on drone building and supporting a high altitude research platform (HARP) which uses a helium-filled balloon for near space student research.

Nano Nail Polish

This is a hands-on nanotechnology exhibit for kids that explains what nanoparticles are and how they can be used-from killing bacteria to preventing nail polish from chipping. Things have different properties when they are nano. Kids can see this for themselves by doing a nano nail polish craft. They can make a nail polish nanofilm and watch as the clear nail polish turns rainbow right before their eyes! They can then use this rainbow nanofilm to decorate bookmarks and bracelets. This project was created by high school girls who love science and making.
