The members of Nottley Technologies, LLC acquired a dysfunctional electric golf cart in November 2011, and within a few days, brought the vehicle back to life. Since then, the golf cart has become a test bed for implementing and testing automated control systems designed by Nottley Technologies. Now known as the Autonomous Remote Land Explorer (ARLEne), the golf cart features self-navigation and drive-by-wire technology . Using a GPS antenna, inertial sensors, and an array of ultrasonic ranging modules, ARLEne has the capability to navigate sparsely populated obstacle courses. The audience can control ARLEne with a joystick, or let the onboard processor do all the driving!
